Who we are
Oldagesolutions.org is a webportal for older persons in India created as
a part of Technology Interventions for Elderly (TIE ) initiated
by the science & society division for benefit of elderly people keeping in view
of the National Policy on Older People (NPOP).
TIE programme is a result of interventions by the Science & Society Division. In
the 70th Expert Committee meeting, the first step was taken to initiate dialogue
on Science &Technology (S&T) interventions for benefit of older persons
involving participants from various stakeholders, including subject specialists
and some residents of Old Age Homes. The interaction meeting was held on 15th February
2006 at Department of Science and Technology to identify selected areas where technological
inputs would be benefit the older persons in India. Based on the recommendations
of the interaction meet, it was decided to classify the S&T interventions under
four major areas of health and nutrition, designs, networking and recreation & entertainment.
In order to ensure involvement of more organizations on each intervention area,
lead organizations were identified to organize detailed deliberations at different
places. 4 lead organizations were identified for this purpose and workshops were
organized under different themes. As a result of these extensive deliberations,
few project proposals have been received covering different themes of the programme.
All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) and the Department of Science and
Technology (DST), www.dst.gov.into
